Like most of the costumes on this site, this was a one-of-a-kind piece hand crafted by an Egyptian artisan.
THIS COSTUME CAN NOT BE ORDERED. Will there be more? Individual artisans will occasionally repeat designs, but never exactly and rarely in the same color. It's impossible to say if or when these will show up or in what size or color. YOU CAN'T ORDER THIS COSTUME. Thank you.

If large version photos don't seem very large, especially the detail, which should be pretty gigantic, you may need to do this (applies to Internet Explorer (IE) only): Click the "Tools" menu at the top of the IE window. Click "Internet Options". Click the "Advanced" tab. You'll see a "Settings" list of items you can check or uncheck. Scroll down until you see the heading "Multimedia." There should be a checkbox setting something along the lines of "enable automatic image resizing." You DON'T want automatic image resizing, so uncheck the box if it's checked. CLick the "OK" button. "Automatic image resizing" takes images IE considers too big and makes them smaller, so you never are sure if you are seeing an image at the size the website author intended. Turning off "automatic image resizing" simply means you will see all images at their "real" sizes, it will not affect anything else.

Made in Egypt.

A general statement about Egyptian designer Hanan: Hanan is one of the hottest haute couture designers in Egypt NOW. Her costumes tend to be more reasonably priced than some of the other "big name" designers. The costumes I've gleaned are even MORE reasonably priced, as I've hunted around for sales and sleeper bargains from other middlemen vendors, and purchased in bulk. Hanan generally bucks the current trend (getting overdone and overcopied, and taken a bit far at times, in my opinion) of minimal decoration. Her beautiful beadwork is instantly recognizable; anybody who "knows" will know what you are wearing. She was, if not the only, then one of the originators of the now much-copied jewled-buckle straps over open hip(s) look; other signature design elements are long fabric cords hanging in wide skirt openings; beautifully constructed flaring skirts; unique fabrics; wide variety of styles from sexy and daring (lots of wide leg openings) to flirty (use of ruffles), to incredibly elegant (beautiful mesh drapes). And of course extremely high quality. Variations in prices of her costumes that you will see here and elsewhere often have to do with the beadwork - a lot of crystal, large unique glass beads = $$$$$; more sequins and standard glass beads (but still beautiful work) = less $. Other factors as well, of course. More elaborate or unique/new designs = more $$$.
I believe technically this color could be described as a dark periwinkle, but I never liked the word "periwinkle"... :) regardless, it is a lovely color, very elegant. Lighter blue fabric with darker blue metallic overlay of miniscule closely & randomly spaced dots.

Bra is the current must-have style (I've heard described as "Dina" style, "upside down UU" or "w"; but right now all the top designers are using it). If you've never seen/worn one may seem odd at first, also may look frighteningly "unsafe" (like uninvited appearances might be likely). I can assure you the opposite is very much the case. These bras cup around you (whether there is a lot of you, or not so much of you) like a locked safe! This particular bra has a relatively deep cup, but these bras do EXTREMELY well with padding as well as without. Also, something about this particular bra: the lining is sewn a bit tight (too small), so it is pulling the top edge down a bit. Super lazy: don't do anything, just make sure you pad and fill the cup up, it will look fine. Lazy: slit the lining to loosen it up. Good dancer: unstitch along top or bottom, roll lining seam allowance out a bit, stitch down again. Back strap is (fabric coverd) elastic for super fit.

I personally love the coloring and beading design on this costume; to me the relatively simple, smooth edges of the white and blue are clean and flowing, the slight contrast of the white giving punch.Beadwork outlines in glass seed and tumbled (smooth edged) square cut bugles in silver and blue, also traditional smooth long silver glass bugles. Sequins in iridescent white, iridescent blues, both flat and faceted. Beautiful cascading design wraps around entire skirt.; this and the large circular motif are Hanan signatures.

Opening over left hip with three cross pieces. Diamond shape of openings are actually created by pinching the center of cross pieces together; they are held in the center by large square glass crystal rhinestone jewlery pieces; the rhinestones themselves in the pieces are also large, 3/8".Three long fabric strips (these are not just raw edged cut fabric; they are sewn & finished so front and back are "right side"; no raw edges) with silver and gold glass looping bead decoration the entire length hang in the leg opening, these are the greatest! Really fly around and show your movements.

Skirt is a looks good on just about anybody sarong style cut - more relaxed than a fit-to-flare; unless it is tiny on you doesn't hug the rear end as much (& doesn't show those lumps and bumps that only you notice anyway). But nicely cut, not baggy. As described above, can be taken in a bit.

Just the right amount of beautiful fringe accenting in hip bead work. Double strands of silver and blue large glass seed beads, tipped with a couple of lovely semi-precious-stone-look bead types, white opal ovalized cylinders and light/dark gradated blue "tiger eye" rounds, plus silver metallics. Pull on, no zipper.

Accessories: Matching beaded gauntlets, soft headband.

Age/Condition: New.

Sizing:
> Click For "How to Buy a Costume that Fits", explanation of my sizing, how to apply it to you, also some tips on altering. VERY HELPFUL

DO NOT CALL OR EMAIL ME WITH SIZE QUESTIONS OF ANY KIND UNTIL YOU HAVE 1) READ THE LINKED PAGE ABOVE (How to Buy A Costume that Fits), 2) READ THE FULL DESCRIPTION OF THIS COSTUME INCLUDING NOTES GIVEN WITH THE SIZES, 3) TAKEN YOUR MEASUREMENTS NOW AND CAREFULLY COMPARED THEM TO MEASUREMENTS GIVEN FOR COSTUME IN QUESTION. Please! I'm overwhelmed with emails/calls, which keeps me from posting new costumes! It may be hard to believe, but many, many questions are answered by taking a little time to do this -- even if you think you understand my measurements and/or know yours. Even if you are totally confused (or only know your size in a non-US format - page gives help converting). If you still have questions after that, I'll be delighted to answer them (please email vs. phone if you can -- love to talk to customers, but much easier for me to answer emails quickly) . Thank you VERY much, I greatly appreciate it! - K

Bra
    PLEASE read:
    - Brief Explanation of notations used below.
    - Underbust measurements are NOT a good way to judge bra fit, please read this (short).

Should fit range including: 34 B+/C/small D, 36 B/C. Max underbust =34".

Skirt Top: Smallest body will reasonably fit approximately = 30", largest body will reasonably fit approximately = 37". Completely fabric-cased elastic. If too tight, you can simply slit casing on inside, cut elastic (keep hold of the ends) and let it relax to where it's comfortable, tack ends down. Beadwork IS sewn through elastic, so you would do this in several places. If too loose, probably easiest to add elastic outside the casing. See easy tip here.

Skirt Hips at widest: Smallest body will reasonably fit approximately = 34", largest body will reasonably fit approximately = 42". Smaller bodies may want to take in if more body-hugging silhouette desired, though this skirt is not technically designed as closely fitted as a fit-to-flare style. Easy place to tighten up a little: at the cross pieces over the hip.

Skirt length: 37 ".
